Last Original Tune from 90s Line-up

The Bliss Machine’s new line-up refreshed this original tune based on one and only one reference recording: a practice jam session that survived on DAT from the Fall of 1992; amazingly lyrics from an old Mac were salvaged as well. Alas, it was the last original song recorded by the band; words and guitar parts were written by BlissMaster D. In fact, it was recorded at upstairs at EZD’s aunt’s house post-626 W. 18th St (Pilsen) move-out but before The Great Pause of ’92.

For a change from the usual generational banter but sticking with the general social commentary, “Lost in Space” is a song about the bittersweet anomie of Gen X in the early 90s. It is about coming out of school in a world very different from what our Silent Generation parents understood. One that was now dominated by an often sneering Baby Boomer generation.

Production Notes

Beyond the titular reference to the 1960s TV show, the 2022 version of “Lost in Space” launches with sounds captured from the Cassini space probe’s visit to Saturn via NASA’s SoundCloud archive. It also prominently features a reworked bridge highlighting the clever and propulsive bass work of our new partner and collaborator, Eric G. The new guitar solo while minimalist takes advantage of the resurrected ’76 Flying V and the eerie sustainfulness of the eBow.

Enjoy!
